Actress Minnie Driver Calls Trump Supporters Racists Vows Not to Return to US

Staff Writer

Actress Minnie Driver has sparked controversy by accusing Trump supporters of embracing racism and criticizing America's founding fathers for lacking female input, suggesting Trump belongs in prison in a candid interview.

Actress Minnie Driver has criticized supporters of former President Donald Trump, asserting they "really quite like a bit of a racist attitude" in their candidate. She also criticized America's founding fathers, suggesting the country's creation would have benefited from female input.

In an interview with The Times of London on Saturday, the Good Will Hunting star discussed Trump and his substantial supporter base.

Driver commented on the "revelation of the 70 million people who really quite like a bit of a racist attitude and non-existent immigration policies and dismantling the environmental agencies."

"They were always there," she continued. "They weren’t created by him. He’s just a symptom, and now they’ve got a mascot."

Driver, who is British and became a U.S. citizen in 2017, expressed her belief that Trump should be imprisoned.

"Of course he deserves to be in prison — of course he does," she stated.

She also remarked on Trump's fundraising abilities, noting, "But just looking at how much money he raised in that two days, $53 million in a 48-hour period, and the idea that because the founding fathers — if there had been some mothers involved, perhaps it would be different — left no room in the Constitution for the idea that the American people could be so stupid as to vote for a felon, there is nothing reflected in the judiciary about what would happen if he wins."

Driver, who lived in Los Angeles for years before returning to the U.K., was asked if she would live in the U.S. again if Trump is re-elected. She responded, "If I lived in a red state, no, I couldn’t."

The actress has a history of criticizing Trump and his family. In 2019, she participated in a dramatic reading of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, which many hoped would demonstrate Trump's collusion with Russia in 2016. Additionally, after comedian Samantha Bee called Ivanka Trump a derogatory term, Driver remarked that she considered Trump’s daughter unworthy of even that misogynistic slur.
