Another Georgia Woman Killed By Illegal

Staff Writer

Just hours before Georgians head to the polls, a brutal killing has sparked outrage, with local leaders blaming the Biden-Harris administration's border policies for the death of 25-year-old Minelys “Mimi” Rodriguez-Ramirez, allegedly at the hands of an illegal immigrant.

Just hours before voters head to the polls across Georgia, the tragic killing of another young woman has reignited a fierce debate over immigration policy and public safety. Minelys “Mimi” Rodriguez-Ramirez, a 25-year-old fitness influencer and Puerto Rico native, was found dead near a Walmart in Cornelia, Georgia, after going missing on October 22. Her accused killer, Angel DeJesus Rivera-Sanchez, is an illegal alien from Mexico, according to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.

Police began searching for Rodriguez-Ramirez after her family reported her missing, last seen alive at the Cornelia Walmart. Days later, her body was discovered nearby, the result of a search involving K-9 units. Rivera-Sanchez, 24, was arrested on October 28 near a bus station in Atlanta and now faces charges of kidnapping and murder. Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell confirmed Rivera-Sanchez’s illegal status, with the Department of Homeland Security verifying his background through fingerprints and documents.

The arrest has drawn strong condemnation from local lawmakers who place blame on the Biden-Harris administration’s border policies. State Senators John Albers and Steve Gooch publicly denounced what they described as “open-border policies” that they argue make communities like Cornelia less safe.

Sen. Albers pointed to another tragic case earlier this year, the death of Laken Riley in his district, attributing both incidents to policy failures at the federal level. “How many more lives must be lost due to the open-border policies in Washington, D.C.?” Albers questioned, adding, “These were preventable tragedies, and we will not forget them. Say their names.”

The Rodriguez-Ramirez family has established a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral expenses as they grapple with the loss of a young woman beloved by her friends, family, and social media followers.

Rivera-Sanchez is currently being held without bond in Habersham County Jail. His bond hearing for the kidnapping charge is scheduled for November 20. Meanwhile, the case has intensified criticism of the Biden-Harris administration’s approach to immigration, adding a potent layer to an already charged election day in Georgia.
