Betting markets gave Vice President Kamala Harris no boost after her CNN interview, as she slipped from front-runner status and tied with Donald Trump, who now appears to be regaining momentum in the 2024 race.
Betting markets remained largely indifferent to Vice President Kamala Harris' performance during her CNN interview on Thursday night. Despite facing her first unscripted questions since becoming the Democratic nominee, Harris saw no significant surge in her odds for the 2024 presidential election.
According to Star Sports, Harris’ odds shifted from being the favorite at 10/11 (52.4 percent) on Thursday to tied with Donald Trump at 19/20 (51.3 percent) on Friday. Meanwhile, Trump’s odds saw an improvement, climbing from 21/20 (48.8 percent) to 20/21 (51.2 percent), as reported by U.K.-based bookmaker Betfair.
Star Sports analyst William Kedjanyi noted the slight drift in Harris' numbers, while GOP supporters saw Trump gaining momentum. Sam Rosbottom of Betfair echoed this, stating that while the race had been tight throughout August, the latest shift has put Trump back in the favored position after Harris’ interview.
