A Haitian migrant, brought to the U.S. under a Biden administration parole program, now faces charges of molesting a 10-year-old boy in Massachusetts, raising fresh concerns about the controversial initiative.
A Haitian migrant is accused of molesting a 10-year-old boy in Mansfield, Massachusetts, after reportedly being brought into the U.S. last year through President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris's controversial parole program.
The suspect, 18-year-old Akim Marc Desire, was arrested by the Mansfield Police Department late last month and charged with indecent assault and battery on a child under 14. According to reports, Desire allegedly molested the 10-year-old boy who lived next door to him. Following his arrest, he was arraigned in Attleboro District Court on the charges.
After the arraignment, Desire was taken into federal custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, where he remains. He had reportedly entered the U.S. in June 2023 under the Biden administration’s CHNV parole program, which has brought hundreds of thousands of migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela into the U.S.
Last month, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas temporarily suspended the CHNV program following reports of fraud and abuse. However, DHS restarted the program just weeks later.
