Five Secret Service Agents Placed on Leave

Five Secret Service officials have been placed on administrative duty following a security lapse at former President Donald Trump’s July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he was shot in the ear. The investigation has now expanded to examine threats against Trump from Iran and the agency’s response.

At least five U.S. Secret Service officials who were involved in the planning of former President Donald Trump’s ill-fated July 13 campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, have been placed on administrative duty. According to two sources familiar with the situation, these officials were responsible for coordinating security at the rally where Trump was shot in the ear by gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks.

While the Secret Service officials remain on duty, they are restricted from participating in any operational activities, including security planning, the sources told ABC News.

The agency’s Office of Professional Responsibility has reportedly broadened its investigation beyond the failures surrounding the July 13 incident. The inquiry now includes examining classified threats made against Trump by Iran and evaluating the Secret Service's response to these threats.
