Emhoff acknowledged his actions and stated that he took responsibility for them, saying that he and Kerstin worked through the challenges as a family and emerged stronger.
The admission comes in response to a report from the DailyMail, which claimed that Emhoff had an affair with the nanny, Najen Naylor, and allegedly got her pregnant.
"During my first marriage, Kerstin and I went through some tough times on account of my actions," Emhoff said in a statement to CNN. "I took responsibility, and in the years since, we worked through things as a family and have come out stronger on the other side."
The report further revealed that Naylor was a teaching assistant and teacher at the Willows Community School in Culver City, California, while also serving as a nanny for Emhoff's daughter, Ella. However, details about the alleged pregnancy remain unclear, with conflicting accounts from those close to Naylor.
Emhoff’s ex-wife, Kerstin, also issued a statement, praising him as a "great father" and a "great friend." She emphasized that their decision to end their marriage was due to a variety of reasons and expressed pride in the supportive blended family they have created with Harris.
