In a dramatic response to the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, NBC has pulled MSNBC’s "Morning Joe" off the air, opting for continuous breaking news coverage as the Republican National Convention kicks off in Milwaukee.

On one of the most momentous political news days in decades, NBC has pulled MSNBC’s "Morning Joe" off the air Monday morning in the wake of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on Saturday, coinciding with the start of the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
CNN reported:
> "MSNBC will not air 'Morning Joe,' its celebrated politics roundtable program, on Monday, opting to instead air continued breaking news coverage of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump."
The progressive news network confirmed the decision to preempt its influential and top-rated morning show after a CNN inquiry Sunday evening. The network stated the show will resume airing on Tuesday.
A person familiar with the matter told CNN that the decision was made to avoid the risk of one of the show’s numerous guests making an inappropriate comment on live television that could damage the program and the network. Given the breaking news nature of the story, the source said it made more sense to continue with rolling breaking news coverage during this politically charged moment.
"Morning Joe," hosted by married co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, has been known for its strong anti-Trump rhetoric and support for President Biden. Scarborough, in particular, dismissed reports about Biden’s mental decline in the weeks leading up to the presidential debate last month, during which Biden delivered a surprising performance.
“Start your tape right now, because I’m about to tell you the truth. And f-you if you can’t handle the truth. This version of Biden intellectually, analytically, is the best Biden ever,” Scarborough said three months ago.
The show and its guests frequently express strong criticism of Trump, which critics argue contributes to a climate of hostility.
